- Title
Molecular evidence of Rickettsia felis infection in dogs from northern territory, Australia.
- Abstract
The article presents a study which investigated the prevalence of spotted-fever group rickettsial infection in dogs from indigenous community of Maningrida in the Northern Territory (NT), using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) . For this blood samples were collected from 130 dogs facilitated by the Animal Management in Rural and Remote Indigenous Communities (AMRRIC) organisation in NT and then DNA was extracted from a Rickettsia conorii. Results showed SFG rickettsial PCR-positive in three samples and DNA sequences were homologous with Rickettsia felis.
