Replicating an ancient Egyptian masterpiece.
- Authors
Partridge, Bob
- Abstract
The article focuses on the construction of a copy of the Egyptian golden throne of Tutankhamun by craftsman Zaghloul Ibrahim. It states that the main factors restricting reproduction of ancient artifacts are time and cost, which are shown in the use of gold and silver leaf instead of gold foil and incised detail used in the original. It adds that the project took Ibrahim three years to finish and required several of his skills which include carving, faience-making, and wood and metal working.
