- Abstract
A systematic review was conducted to assess the effectiveness and safety of suction-based airway clearance devices for foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO). The review included four studies published between 2020 and 2022. The studies found that suction-based devices, such as LifeVac and Dechoker, had high success rates in removing FBAOs compared to traditional techniques like abdominal thrusts. However, caution is needed when using these devices in real-life scenarios, and training in traditional FBAO management techniques is still essential. More research is needed to provide high-quality evidence on the benefits and harms of airway clearance devices.
