- Abstract
The author, director of the Center of Excellence for the Elimination of Health Disparities at Winston-Salem State University, describes the efforts of her organization to promote minorities such as African Americans in the medical professions on order to decrease health disparities in minority populations in the U.S. Nursing education in the U.S., strategic planning for increasing African American pass rates for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), and the 2007 video conference "The Endangered Species: African-American Registered Nurses" are discussed, as well as conference speakers such as Dr. Louis W. Sullivan from the Morehouse School of Medicine and Dr. Betty Adams from Prairie View A&M University.
