- Abstract
The article discusses the historical background, provenance, and textual details of the work "Les VII Sacremens de l'Eglise," by 15th century French author, translator, manuscript illuminator, scribe, and priest, Jean Miélot, who served as secretary to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, and as Chaplan to Louis of Luxembourg. Topics discussed include the extent and particulars of Miélot's work as a scribe and manuscript illuminator, with reference to the "VII Sacremens;" methods of establishing the authorship of the work, based on existing copies of the texts, and textual analysis of the work.
