The article presents an historical overview of physical medicine and rehabilitation health services in the Jewish settlements of Palestine and Israel during the second quarter of the 20th-century. Details are given noting the initial development of medical infrastructure in the nation's early years, highlighting the changes which occurred after the large-scale demand for medical services in the wake of the War of Independence and the rehabilitation of its veterans.
