- Abstract
The article presents the decision of Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) on Gender Stereotyping on the case Karen Tayag Vertido vs. The Philippines. The facts of the case are outlined, as well as the ruling of Judge Virginia Hofileña-Europa to dismiss a rape case for lack of probable cause. The Committee recommended that the Philippines should adopt measures to ensure that all legal procedures are free from stereotypical gender notions.
