- Abstract
The article focuses on the discussions of contest narratives on magic and magical practices of rabbis and magicians in the Talmudic literature in Palestine and Babylonia. It highlights three tales that depict the magical prowess and acts of rabbis and magicians as well as their magical representation differences. It cites the transformation of magic as an expression of rabbinic knowledge that explains the new forms of rabbinic prowess and control.
