- Abstract
Introdução: O produto comercial Phtalox® é um gel dental contendo Ftalocianina que foi desenvolvido para ser um agente coadjuvante à raspagem e alisamento corono-radicular no tratamento das doenças periodontais. Objetivos: Desta forma, o objetivo deste estudo clínico foi estudar os efeitos deste gel dental contendo Ftalocianina (PHTALOX®) como coadjuvante para a prevenção e controle da doença periodontal. Material e método: Um total de 45 pacientes que apresentavam doença periodontal foram submetidos à raspagem e alisamento corono-radicular, e após o tratamento periodontal básico foram divididos aleatoriamente em 3 grupos de acordo com os produtos coadjuvantes utilizados: Grupo VGDP - escovação com Veículo do Gel Dental de Phtalox; Grupo GDP - Escovação com Gel Dental de Phtalox 0,1% e Grupo GDC - Escovação com Gel Dental de Clorexidina 0,12%. A técnica de escovação utilizada foi a de Bass com uma frequência de 4 vezes ao dia. Foram realizados exames clínicos e registrados a redução das profundidades de sondagem dos pacientes no início e aos 45 dias após a realização da raspagem e alisamento radicular e início das escovações. Resultados: Após a coleta dos dados e a comparação inter e intragrupos, verificou-se uma redução da profundidade de sondagem no grupo VGDP de 0,40±0,21 mm, no grupo GDP de 0,43±0,01 e o grupo GDC de 0,40±0,74 mm sem diferença entre eles. Conclusão: Podemos concluir que após os tratamentos realizados todos os grupos apresentaram uma diminuição em relação à profundidade de sondagem e melhorias nas condições periodontais dos pacientes.
