- Abstract
The article presents a study which investigates the efficiency of optical scanning for rapid intraoperative diagnosis of breast cancer with sentinel node metastases. The study used elastic scattering spectroscopy (ESS) and developed an optical scanner as part of the procedure of the investigation. It was concluded that the results of ESS were observed to be comparable with intraoperative diagnostic techniques of lymph node assessment.
