- Abstract
The article focuses the on trends in the production of doctorates in science in India based on its 12th five-year plan. It states that India engaged in a drive to motivate students in taking up postgraduate studies in science through programmes such as Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs). It also compares the number of researchers in the country with that of Brazil, China and the U.S. It also says that outcomes of the 12th five-year plan may help in the development of doctoral programmes.
