The article focuses on the study which determines the importance of electrons in the metallic state of high-temperature superconductors. The study revealed that the electrons have played vital role for charge and spin transport in conventional metals. Developments of angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), an experimental technique in studying electronic excitations of solids, is also discussed.
