- Title
Stem cells: Fatherless stem cells.
- Authors
de Souza, Natalie
- Abstract
The article focuses on research conducted by two groups on haploid mouse embryonic stem cells. Researchers Ulrich Elling and Josef Penninger grew embryonic stem cells from parthenotes and then used fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) to divide the small remaining fraction of haploid cells. They found that with periodic sorting, they could maintain haploid mouse embryonic stem cell lines. It also discusses the findings of researchers Anton Wutz and Martin Leeb on haploid mouse cells.
