- Abstract
The McGurk effect is a perceptual phenomenon that highlights the interaction between the auditory and visual cues and it has gained popularity in many fields. To reduce fear and build trust between the dentist and the kid, good communication is essential in pediatric dentistry. McGurk effect which is defined by the perceived fusion of incongruent audio and visual stimuli improves the communication. The term euphemism aims in changing potentially terrifying terms into a pleasant language to calm the anxious children. Through the view of euphemism, the dental environment can be reframed as a friendly and collaborative space where words and visual cues work together to create a comforting and kids friendly ambience. This abstract supports the incorporation of McGurk effect with euphemism in pediatric dentistry and its effect on children based on Frankl behavioral rating scale.
