- Abstract
The article discusses the role of real estate participants in the housing process for immigrants with a focus on housing for Haitians in Rivière des Prairies in Quebec, Canada. It examines the influence of ethnic background in choosing a real estate agent, immigrant knowledge of the real estate market, and the impact of family social networks in choosing housing and agents. Discussion of the reasons that Haitian immigrant buyers choose the Rivière des Prairies area is included with factors such as proximity to work and family, access to mortgages, and low real estate prices.
