- Abstract
The article examines the lack of reference about community treatment orders (CTO) in federal, state and territorial mental health policy documents. In the 2011 federal budget of Australia, a health reform package was announced which is aimed at improving community services for people with severe and persistent mental illnesses. Several ethical issues concerning CTO include consent, autonomy, coercion and confidentiality.
