- Abstract
The article presents a study which aimed to examine whether community size and location are factors that affect the levels of professional satisfaction experienced by Australian general practitioners (GPs). The study was conducted to discover the reasons for the shortage of medical practitioners in rural and remote areas of Australia from 1990 to 2010. It concludes that GPs express similar levels of satisfaction with most aspects of their professional work regardless of community size and suggests a more active marketing of rural medicine.
