- Abstract
The article offers some tips for educators on how to develop effective instructional text in reading in classrooms for students who are English-Language Learners (ELL), or English as a second language students. It notes the importance for teachers to read aloud because it can improve the understanding of students. It also discusses the efficiency of language experience approach (LEA) wherein reading and writing instructions are incorporated into the life experiences of students. The importance of the curriculum for ELL students is also discussed.
