- Abstract
The article provides an example of an emergent fifth-grade inquiry into magnetism in class that demonstrates the level of integration indicated in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Topics discussed include analysis of working of magnets underwater; investigation for determination of the distance at which magnets attract underwater; and the importance of ongoing formative assessment.
