This article focuses on patron-driven acquisitions (PDA), a model of library collection development. Topics discussed include the advantages of PDA for libraries, such as enabling them to focus on purchasing titles that are most likely to be used, the challenges they face in using PDA, including the complicated licensing involved with the use of e-books and the altered workflows created by PDA, and the adopters of PDA, including academic libraries and public libraries.
