- Title
Together but Unequal: Race and Education in Our Gang.
- Authors
Weaver, Heather A.
- Abstract
An essay is presented on racial integration in education as portrayed in the U.S. film short series "Our Gang" produced by U.S. filmmaker Hal Roach. The author argues that Roach's series emphasized the divide between whites and blacks as a so-called together-but-unequal environment, in contrast to the separate-but-equal environment as embodied by the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the case "Plessy v. Ferguson."
