- Title
SCHUMPETER AND MAX WEBER--CENTRAL VISIONS AND SOCIAL THEORIES.
- Authors
Macdonald, Ronan
- Abstract
The article compares Joseph Schumpeter and Max Weber, economists, with respect to their central visions and their social theories. Schumpeter always emphasized the importance of identifying prescientific vision and in his own case the task is relatively easy. It is clearly related to his entrepreneur to manager and circular flow to developing system contrasts. In Weber's case, not only is his treatment of the Protestant ethic and the spirit of capitalism his most famous contribution but it is also the primary focus of most commentators and the point of advantage from which his other wide-ranging explorations are usually surveyed.
