- Title
The Love Song of Satin-Legs Smith: Gwendolyn Brooks Revisits Prufrock's Hell.
- Authors
Saunders, Judith P.
- Abstract
The article discusses the poem "The Sundays of Satin-Legs Smith" by Gwendolyn Brooks, with particular focus given to its allusions to the earlier poem "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" by T. S. Eliot, which in turn alludes to the 14th century poem "Inferno" by Dante Alighieri. The contrast between the ultimate success of Brooks' protagonist with the failure of Eliot's is also explored.
