- Title
The Role of Arbitrator Ethics.
- Authors
Holtzman, Robert A.
- Abstract
The article discusses the perceived slant against arbitration because of corruption, bias or interest. The Code of Ethics for Arbitrators in Commercial Disputes prepared in 1977 and revised in 2004 is discussed. It notes that while perception against unethical behavior of arbitrators is high, actual cases are far and in between, and the process is attacked based on a few and some anecdotal incidents. It is important to rebut such claims of impropriety, the author concludes.
