- Abstract
The article discusses the seriousness of the state government of Virginia in modifying the factors relevant on the reduction of the prevalence of smoking. It outlines the categories assessed by the American Lung Association, a voluntary health organization, that earned failing grades including cessation and excise tax. The link of poverty, low educational level and poor health status is explained. The recommendations to reduce the prevalence of smoking in the state are also highlighted.
