- Abstract
The newly-built Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo Railway is an important part of the national highspeed railway network and a key line of the intercity railway network in the Yangtze River Delta. The railway needs to pass through the Suzhou Industrial Park which is densely populated by residential communities. There are lots of high-tech electronic and precision instrument companies that are sensitive to rail-wheel vibration. Thus, it is necessary to minimize the vibration effects on residential communities and enterprises along the line. Through the comparison of multiple schemes of route direction and laying methods, and special demonstration of vibration assessment, the underground plan along the Fengli Street, which has advantages including low requirement for requisition and demolition, easy-to-implement, effective intensive land resources, conducive to improving the urban environment of the park, was finally adopted. Studies shows that when high - speed railways pass through urban sections, the route and laying methods need to be comprehensively determined in consideration of factors such as demolition, project investment, noise and vibration, and environmental impact. Although the direct engineering investment of the underground scheme is relatively high, taking account of the factors such as land acquisition and demolition, the total investment is similar with the viaduct scheme and it has less impact on the external environment.
