The article presents a study which provides evidence that cortical interneurons inhumans are derived from subcortical regions. The involvement of transcription factors in interneuron development expressed in the ventricular zone and subventricular zone (SVZ) of the lateral ganglionic eminence is cited. It is inferred that human cortical interneurons come in subcortical proliferative zones throughout the prenatal period assessed.
