- Abstract
In order to reduce the risk of natural gas pipeline pigging operation, bypass jetting technology is widely applied in pigging operations. The bypass jetting pig with annular nozzle can effectively clean the dirt on the inner wall of the pipe and provide gas flow assurance. To tackle the problem of jet flow characteristics produced by annular nozzles with different geometric sizes, the annular nozzle working model with four different inner cone angles and three different outer cone angles were numerically simulated by using Fluent software. Multiple sections were selected in the axial and radial dimensions, and the distribution nephogram and changing curves of flow velocity and turbulent kinetic energy in jet flow field of annular nozzles with different geometric sizes were obtained. The results indicate that the change of the inner and outer cone angles of the annular nozzle only affects the purging velocity, turbulent kinetic energy and the radial purging effect of the pipe, but does not affect the axial purging range of the pipe. Taking jet velocity and turbulence kinetic energy as the evaluation indices of the purge effect, the best purge effect of the inner wall of the pipe can be achieved when the inner cone angle of the annular nozzle is 90° and the outer cone angle is 80°. The research results provide a theoretical basis for the optimal design of annular nozzle structure.
