- Abstract
The article provides a meta-analysis on the use of vegetated treatment systems (VTSs) in pesticide risk mitigation. Multiple linear regression analysis of retention performance cases has identified pesticide properties including organic carbon sorption coefficient value and water-phase 50% dissipation time. Assessments revealed higher reduction of toxicity for hydrophobic and nonpersistent insecticdes when compared with less sorptive and not degradable herbicides and fungicides. It concludes that VTSs is an effective risk mitigation strategy pesticide pollution of surface waters.
