- Abstract
The article presents the results of a survey with regards to demographic ageing and migration in the French overseas départements (DOMs) of French Guiana, Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Réunion. It cites that the populations in Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Réunion have seen a fast increase in demographic ageing. It shows that French Guiana's population is rising due to fast-growing fertility and immigration. It speculates that population ageing will double from 2005 to 2030 in Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Réunion. It notes that the inflows and outflows of migration have affected the growth rate of the population.
