- Abstract
The article defines Freedom in the World, an evaluation of political rights and civil liberties, established by the nonprofit organization Freedom House in New York. The survey assesses a country's freedom by examining its record according to the rights of citizens to form political parties and the obligation of the state to uphold its citizens' civil liberties when it respects and protects their religious, ethnic, economic, linguistic and other civil rights.
