- Abstract
Response of hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) to external electric field was investigated with quantum simulations using a time-dependent density functional tight binding (TD-DFTB) method. In the first part, a pulse field of delta function type was imposed and the electronic dynamics was traced to evaluate the absorption spectrum in the UV-visible light range. Several definitions for the optical bandgap were compared, and the effect of hydrogen concentration was discussed. In the second part, an oscillating field with amplitude of sinusoidal envelope was imposed to study the charge separation and transfer process under photon irradiation, and the high concentration of hydrogen was found to play an important role in the photo-generated charge transfer.
