- Abstract
The article presents a study on the extraction of DNA from bee pollen for molecular characterization. The authors evaluated different variations in the extraction process and determined that the incubation time did not affect DNA yield, while the number of washes and the protein precipitation solvent did have a significant impact. Successful amplification of the ITS2 fragment was achieved, and 11 plant species were identified. This study provides important information for optimizing the extraction of DNA from bee pollen and lays the groundwork for future research on barcoding and the detection of invasive, transgenic, or toxic species in bee pollen samples.
