- Abstract
The article presents information on the initiatives taken by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Department of Health and Human Services for enforcing the Ethics in Patient Referrals Act. The need of amendment in the act for increasing self-disclosure in case of minor violations of the act by the health-care providers is discussed. The need of demonstration project and improving program integrity are also discussed.
