- Title
AN INTERPRETIVIST JUDGE AND THE MEDIA.
- Authors
Markman, Stephen J.
- Abstract
The author examines the relationship between interpretivist judges and the mass media, particularly in Michigan. He states that the majority of the Michigan Supreme Court has been described by the media as partisan and beholden to interests due to its commitment to interpretivism in terms of reading the law. He notes that interpretivists are committed to a jurisprudence exercising judicial power in accordance with the U.S. system of separated powers. He explains how the media often fails to make distinction between the judicial and legislative roles.
