- Title
Help Medicare Beneficiaries Get Access to Select Oral Anticancer Drugs.
- Authors
Downs, Christian G.
- Abstract
The article focuses on an opportunity for cancer care providers to be able to help Medicare beneficiaries get access to certain oral anticancer drugs. Medicare covers most infusible and injectable cancer drugs given in a physician's office or in a hospital-based cancer program. Medicare is offering a new program called the Replacement Drug Demonstration Project. The idea behind the program is that the drug the patient takes at home "replaces" the drug that he or she would have received for the same condition in the physician's office.
