- Title
Trade War with China is Driving up Home Prices.
- Authors
Fox, Jacob
- Abstract
The article discusses how the trade war with China is driving up home prices in the United States. Housing prices are currently near an all-time high, and home ownership has not fully recovered from previous recessions. The article argues that tariffs on construction materials, such as Canadian lumber and Chinese nails and pipes, are contributing to the increase in construction costs. The author suggests that eliminating these tariffs and promoting new construction could help make housing more affordable. The article also addresses concerns about job protection and national security, but ultimately argues that removing the tariffs would benefit the average worker and homebuyer.
