- Abstract
In this study, a phenol biosensor based on the carbon nanotube modified conductive polymeric film coated working electrode has been developed for safe, selective, sensitive and fast detection of phenol and its derivatives, which are important pollutants should be detected in water sources and wastewaters. Enzyme tyrosinase responsible for phenol oxidation has been immobilized onto the working electrode. Various 18 phenol derivatives have been analyzed by the designed biosensor, and the results have been discussed by calculating the analytical parameters of the measurement. Response of the biosensor to 5 phenolics among the tested phenols showed that the tyrosinase was highly selective enzyme for biosensors would be developed for different phenols. It was concluded that carbon nanotube contributed to the biosensor signal by enhancing the electroactivity.
