- Abstract
The article discusses the citizen involvement techniques used by the local government in Gallatin County, Montana to promote vibrant public discourse without bringing the decision-making process to a standstill. Two of the most effective public participation techniques employed by Gallatin County to address population growth challenges, includes community forums and citizen-driven community planning. But despite the success of these strategies, the author argues that the county was unable to explore the full array of citizen engagement strategies which could both benefit the public and the local government.
