- Abstract
The article looks at the role of radical restructuring and the need to change skills and behaviors in competing approaches of change management. Eight different paths of change are identified. The author discusses the four basic forms of resistance met by a company's stakeholders when trying to change their company's requirements for organizational capabilities and competencies. The article looks at the efforts of both Nabisco and Harley-Davidson to alter their product lines to regain their reputation as sales giants. The author discusses the differences between renewal paths, restructuring paths, and revitalization paths.
