- Authors
Azatyan, Vardan
- Abstract
The article discusses the literary works of Austrian-Jewish emigrants in the U.S. and Great Britain which focus on the history of art in relation to politics. It highlights several books including "The Story of Art," by Ernst Gombrich, "The Open Society and Its Enemies" and "The Poverty of Historicism," by Karl Popper. It states that the books represent a relationship between political violence and the belief in progress. It underlines the manifesto of The Mont Pelerin Society which was the cold-war initiative by Friedrich von Hayek, a conservative neoliberal political economist, to combat the hindrances in liberty.
