- Title
At Home in Renaissance Bruges: Connecting Objects, People and Domestic Spaces in a Sixteenth-Century City.
- Authors
Duits, Rembrandt
- Abstract
The most important of these is that while I At Home in Renaissance Italy i was conceived as an exhibition catalog aimed not just at fellow scholars but principally at the wider public, I At Home in Renaissance Bruges i is in essence a very technical record of archival research. Graph Despite the rapid growth of material culture studies over the past decades, the history of the domestic interior in pre-modern Europe has been explored only to a limited degree. In the first part of the book, De Groot takes us through what inventories convey to us about the diversification of rooms in Bruges homes and the roles that various specialist rooms fulfilled.
