- Abstract
Shauna Singh Baldwin first novel What the Body Remembers examines the resistant ways in women respond to racialized and sexualized violence at the backdrop of awful historical incident of partition between India and Pakistan. The paper focuses on the detailed depiction of prominent female characters through a gendered lens during times of partition, as well as it also tries to highlight the violence suppressed in the text of patriarchal memories.
