- Abstract
To determine nursing diagnoses in patients with intestinal ostomy, based on clinical nursing judgment based on Orem's Self-Care Deficit Theory. Cross-sectional, exploratory-descriptive study, with field research as a source of information, with a qualitative approach. The sample of this study was composed of 32 ostomized patients, of both sexes, aged between 61 and 91 years. The clinical judgment of the real and potential problems of these individuals, based on Orem's Theory, led to the establishment of four different nursing diagnoses, namely: Disorder in body image due to the treatment of the disease characterized by negative feelings towards the body; Deficient knowledge related to the lack of familiarity with the information resources, characterized by verbalization of the problem; Provision for improved health control characterized by expressing a desire to improve everyday life choices to achieve goals; and risk of low situational self-esteem related to changes in body image. To guide ostomized patients, it is essential to understand their habits, their perceptions and attitudes towards others, the feelings and emotions shown in the most diverse situations, in order to establish nursing diagnoses.
