- Abstract
Pain is common among oncological patients, especially those who are exposed to invasive procedures. It is not simple for the professional to evaluate the painful experience, because it involves multidimensional factors. The objective was to present the main pain measurement scales, emphasizing the best way to meet the oncological patient and the construction of a booklet with the main scales for consultation of health professionals. This Is a descriptive study based on the traditional literature review, The literature survey occurred through studies indexed in the databases LILACS, SCIELO and BDENF. The main scales presented are: Visual Numerical Scale, Visual Analogue Scale, Verbal Descriptors Scale, Face Scale, Pain Assessment in Advanced Dementina, McGill Dor Questionnaire. The scales provide subsidies for professionals to identify the alterations present in patients using the appropriate intervention. Nurses must strive to apply the appropriate scale in an individualized manner. The Booklet encourages the nursing team regarding the importance of using the pain scales according to the patient's need, guaranteeing a humanized treatment and the best therapy.
