- Authors
Layfield, David; Cutress, Ramsey I.
- Abstract
The article presents a study which aims to determine the need for axillary dissection after a positive sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB). It reports that SLNB predicts the stage of the axilla of 97 percent of all patients while 25 to 30 percent of the patients will be diagnosed with a positive biopsy. It also discusses axillary lymph node dissection (ALND), the incidence of lymph node metastasis, and the prediction of non-sentinel lymph node (NSLN).
