- Abstract
Introduction: Tonsillitis is inflammation of the tonsils which is typically of rapid onset. It is a type of pharyngitis. Symptoms of tonsillitis include sore throat, fever, enlargement of tonsils, and trouble swallowing. Causes of tonsillitis are viral and bacterial infections. Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the awareness of tonsillitis among mothers. Materials and Methods: The survey was conducted among 100 mothers, the questionnaire comprising of 20 questions covering all aspects of tonsillitis such as its prevention, duration, awareness, and treatment. The survey was winded up after 2 weeks. At the end of the survey, all the data were collected and statistically analyzed. Results: The results show that most of the mothers are aware about tonsillitis. Conclusion: The present study, thus, concluded that majority of the mother aware about tonsillitis and its clinical outcome occurred in children. This kind of awareness might reach an individual’s easily and cause awareness.
