- Authors
BERNKNOPF, ALLISON
- Abstract
The article focuses on guanfacine as an extended-release, non-central nervous system stimulant that can be used to treat attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children six to 17 years of age. It is noted that dosages of 1 to 4 milligrams per day of guanfacine can lower scores on the ADHD Rating Scale-IV by an average of 17 to 21 points. However, guanfacine can cause hypotension and changes in blood pressure.
