Victims of Trafficking and de facto Statelessness.
- Authors
Piotrowicz, Ryszard
- Abstract
The article discusses the legal situations of trafficked women in their destination country, as well as the phenomenon of de facto statelessness. Victims of trafficking face many hazards including assault, lack of food and medical assistance, and physical exploitation. Trafficked women are not automatically considered refugees. When a trafficked woman is stateless, she could be treated like an alien and her rights could be limited.
