- Abstract
The article discusses the French court cases Ali Samatar and Others v. France and Hassan and Others v. France related on the bringing of suspected pirates and their eligibility to be brought before a legal authority. It mentions that the suspected pirates were arrested midway between the coasts of Yemen and Somalia when they seized the French vessel Ponant. The court decides that the alleged pirates have indergone a "lawful arrest or detention."
